Searching A Title We can search any registered title in British Columbia on your behalf and give you the results by e mail. What Do You Need To Start? The quickest and most efficient ways of searching a title are by "Legal Description" and/or by "Parcel Identifier(PID) Number. Land Title Records are organized under the above and not by civic or postal address. It is possible to search by name, however if you are searching a common name you may get many results which are not the land in question. Legal Description: A unique description of a parcel of land taken from the Land Survey. For Example: Lot 5 Block 23 District Lot 526 Plan NWP12345 Parcel Identifier (PID) Number: A unique nine digit number given to a parcel by the Land Title Office when that parcel was added to the Land Title ALTOS computer system. NOTE, do not be confused with the "Folio Number" which is also a nine digit number which has no application in Land Title searches. Where can you get the Legal Description and/or Parcel Identifier (PID) Number? From Documents You May Already Possess: If it is your own property that you wish to search, you can look at your Property Assessment Notice or copies of your Land Title Transfer or Mortgage which will show both the Legal Description and the PID. Your Property Tax Statement will contain a form of the Legal Description which may be in an abbreviated or reorganized order. It will not contain a PID number it will however have a Folio Number, see above. If You Don't Have Access To Those Documents: We can search the British Columbia Assessment database for you for the fee of $19 plus GST, however if you order a Title Search without PID we will only charge $29 plus GST for the search of both the British Columbia Assessment and Land Title databases, a saving of $9.
